Originally designed in 1918 by Gerrit Rietveld the Red and Blue Chair is representative of the De Stijl art movement’s exploration into three dimensional forms. The visual composition has been simplified to the vertical and horizontal, with only black, white, and primary colors being used. As such, the areas of color appear to float, giving the piece and almost transparent structure. Surprisingly comfortable, the seat has been angled to provide the most comfort possible. You can use this piece in your space as a work of sculpture, or as a truly unique lounge chair.
